Trainers - How the Locator Chooses

Now that we've discussed how many ZIP Codes each personal trainer may have, this section covers how the Locator works and how the list of personal trainers are selected. Bare in mind that this is a very important part of lead generation for the system but it is not a requirement for trainers to participate.

When visitors to the site enter a ZIP code to search, the Locator's database will return up to 200 ZIP code listings which are the 'closest' based on their geographic centers. 12 randomly selected records are displayed from the that database list of returned records.

The Locator will always try to return up to 200 listings that are exact ZIP code matches first; up to 50 Free Memberships and up to 150 Paid Memberships listings. If there are not a combined total of 200 from those two groups, it will then collect the remaining amount based on how close the other listed ZIP codes are from the target ZIP code**. The closer the ZIP code is, the better the chance of being in that remaining group.

For instance, if a visitor searches a ZIP code and there are 70 'trainer ZIPs' listed with that zip code, the Locator will allow up to 130 more trainers to be included in the results if they fit the mileage criteria**.

Paid Memberships that have more than 1 listing in the results (either through duplicate ZIP Code listings being exact matches or fit the mileage criteria) will only be displayed once regardless of the number of times they are in the initial 200 listings.

From the maximum 200 listings that fit the ZIP criteria, a random 12 records will be displayed each time that ZIP Code is searched. Those 12 records will be listed in a random order as links to the individual trainer profiles. Paid Memberships have the additional benefit of 'mouseovers' that display a 'feature' view of their profile.  (For full Paid Membership benefits, click here.)

**Please note that all search results take into consideration the Maximum Mileage entered into the trainer profile. If you enter 20 miles as a maximum and the target ZIP code is 25 miles from your listed ZIP code(s), then you will not be returned in the Locator results for that ZIP code search.
