How the Locator Works for the Facility

This section overviews how the Locator works and how the list of fitness facilities are selected. The Locator is based on software code that uses the longitude and latitude of the ZIP codes. Each fitness facility is allowed to sign up for free and are allowed to select 1 primary ZIP Code to be found under.

1. All Memberships register 1 ZIP code when listing and must have a physical address in that ZIP code.  Additional ZIP codes to be used for listings or additional physical locations can be purchased by signing up as a Featured Facility.  For more specific details on the ZIP code search logic and techniques to cover specific areas, read here.

2. Each ZIP code will never contain more than 10 fitness facilities - up to 2 Featured Facilities and up to 8 Free Memberships.  A fitness facilities can be located under only 1 specific ZIP Code (since it is a physical location) but can be featured under many ZIP Codes by becoming a Featured Facility.

3. When visitors to the site enter a ZIP code to search, the Locator will first select up to 100 ZIP code listings which are the 'closest' based on their geographic center and the Mileage criteria set by the visitor.  (Default mileage is 50 miles.)  12 randomly selected records are displayed from that list of 100 ZIP Codes.  Specific details of the  selection logic, read here.

The primary points of the Locator results:

• Facilities get 1 free "ZIP code listings" to be found under based on their membership level.
• Facilities can only be listed under any specific ZIP code once.
• 12 random picks of the top 100 records (fitting the distance criteria) are displayed.
• Featured Facilities can be listed under more ZIPs and displayed in feature areas of the site.
